- hey, i’m back! for reasons involving an avalanche of terrible silmarillion takes i just had to unleash unto an unsuspecting internet, i have accidentally built myself a new tumblr presence! it’s linked to a new account - current plan is to use @mitzirockerextendeduniverse as a hub blog of sorts, and my main/silm blog, @feanorianethicsdepartment, has a ton of new content (it turns out i had a Lot of takes.) i’ve been around the fandom internet a bit, but honestly i think tumblr is still the social media thing best suited for the way i use the internet. if anyone’s still hanging around here, hey, go follow me there if you want to get back in touch!
REaThe weather lately’s been windy and cold, so I hide inside where it’s light and warm.
But when the sun does come out, I walk outside in the crisp cool air.

So. This is it. Tomorrow Tumblr will roll out its ‘adult content’ ban, dooming it to the same fate as Livejournal when it banned the gays. If its terrible management doesn’t lead to it shutting down in the next few years, it’s gonna become a ghost town. Take heart, though, my friends and other randos on my blog. To misquote one of my favourite series from my childhood, Tumblr did not create fandom, and thus cannot destroy it. As long as there are stories, there will be fandom. It’ll just be somewhere else. I have a masterpost I made on the first day of the crisis of various helpful links. I’ve also reblogged and linked to the most recent version of the alternate sites masterpost I could find.
As for me? I’m planning to go back to university next September, so I don’t think I’ll be as active online as I once was, but I can be found on some other places online. My most active is my twitter, where I blog about my daily life, what I’m reading/watching right now, and, maybe, sometimes, politics. I have an Ao3 account, and I’m currently filtering through my blog’s archives to extract fic to upload there, though it’ll be a while before everything’s up. I also have a Dreamwidth, and though I haven’t used it for much yet, I’ll probably start - once I’ve uploaded everything to Ao3. I have a reddit account I mostly use for TPP, and my Discord handle is mitzirocker#8882. I don’t have a Pillowfort account yet, but I’m planning on setting one up when they reopen signups, and I’ll probably join Mastodon too. I’ll probably call myself mitzirocker there, at least at first.
Finally - let me say thank you. Tumblr brought me out of my shell, pulled me back into interacting with fandoms in a way I hadn’t done since the Boolprop forums, and pulled me out of a rut I’d fallen into since I’d failed at university. Tumblr brought me friends, gave me the confidence to share my ideas, and the knowledge that this was all for fun. Tumblr gave me 2015, the best year of my life. Tumblr taught me about my limits. Tumblr let me grow, and just because I’ve outgrown it doesn’t mean I’m not grateful.
So! Tumblr, yeah? Given Certain Changes, it seems pretty likely this hellsiteTM will be a ghost town in the very near future. Even if your blog doesn’t get flagged for those naughty naughty graphs, a lot of people are taking the cue to leave, and possibly delete their blog on the way out. This means we’re gonna lose a great deal of fandom content in the immediate future, including a ton of wonderful work done for TPP.
In light of that, my co-conspirator @cunninglydisguisedkeybearer and me are trying to scrape as many TPP posts off the site and onto a hard drive as possible. The plan is to upload them to something later, though we’ve yet to decide quite what. You might have received a PM from one of us already asking if we can comb through your tags, but if we haven’t asked you yet, or if there’s a tag or a sideblog we’ve missed, please message us! If you’d prefer we not archive your stuff, that’s cool too, please hit us up so we can ensure your stuff stays dead in the dirt with the rest of this site.
As a final note, thank you for TPP! This fandom is only possible because of all of you, and all of the screenshots, short fics, long fics, worldbuilding, truly fantastic artwork, circulated memes, our beautiful BABA, accumulated ideas that have spawned multiple discussions and a disgusting amount of timelines, an affection towards each others lore, kappas, and general enthusiasm that have been shared between all of us.
This is what makes up TPP, in the end, so let’s save whatever we can for whatever comes next.
